Hello once again, readers! We’re into September, so it must be time for our latest brand of the month. This month the spotlight shines on one of our very favourite audio brands – Cyrus!
Who are Cyrus Audio?
Cyrus are an internationally acclaimed, high-end audio brand based in Cambridgeshire, England. The company has been at the forefront of the audio scene for nearly 40 years. Having launched the original Cyrus One amplifier back in 1984, it quickly established itself as a company providing outstanding quality for the most discerning of music-lovers, and it has been designing and manufacturing award winning audio products ever since. Cyrus is proud to be one of the few remaining independent British brands, with their range of integrated amps, CD players, power amps and power supplies continuing to be designed and manufactured in the UK.
Made in Britain
Cyrus are extremely proud of their status as an independent UK based manufacturer. Since 1984 their R&D team have been based at their head office in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and up until 2019 they also built every single product in Huntingdon. In early 2019, they took their partnership with SMS Electronics – who have been providing Cyrus’ PCB boards for over 20 years – to the next level. It was becoming difficult for Cyrus as a relatively small manufacturer to compete for components in the global market, so it was decided to move their entire manufacturing process from Huntingdon to SMS in Nottingham. This has since evolved further to include their inventory management and distribution. This strong relationship with SMS, has put Cyrus in a very strong position to move forward into the future as a proud ‘Made in Britain‘ member.

Award Winning Products
The talented team at Cyrus have been responsible for several industry firsts over the years, and it continues to push technological boundaries in pursuit of bringing a better music experience to its customers. The brand’s key focus is on ensuring that the emotional content of the music is captured, which is why listening to music on a Cyrus system is a truly engaging and uplifting experience. Cyrus has also gained a reputation for products that have a stylish, compact design and, because they can be upgraded, provide lifetime value for the customer.
Leading the way in CD Design
The CDi is an integrated CD player from the Classic series, using the award-winning Servo Evolution CD engine. Everything from the power stage through to the analogue output has been designed with sound quality in mind, and the results will exceed all your expectations. Judged the best CD player over £1000 for nine consecutive years by What Hi-Fi? Magazine, the CDi is without doubt one of the most influential integrated CD players ever designed. You’ve never really heard your CDs until you’ve listened to them on a Cyrus CDi.
High Resolution Music Streaming
Cyrus recently launched two new streamers for their Classic and XR ranges. Both the Classic-Stream and Stream-XR products are fully featured streaming music players capable of playing lossless music up to 24-bit/192kHz at lightning-fast speeds with no lag and zero loss in sound quality. The BluOS operating system and BluOS controller via iOS, Android, Kindle, Mac or PC computers allows music playback from all the major audio streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Spotify and dozens of others as well as Roon, Airplay2 and MQA decoding.
The Stream-XR includes the same Cyrus 2nd Generation QXR DAC as found in the i9-XR and Pre-XR, that provides both analogue and digital outputs, as well as the ability to connect the PSU-XR external power supply. The Classic-Stream has the 1st Generation QXR DAC which is found in the Classic AMP & Pre products and can also be upgraded with the PSX-R2 power supply.
Cyrus & HBH Woolacotts
We first began stocking Cyrus audio products in early 2017 – starting with the classic Cyrus ONE; it was a fast customer and staff favourite, not only for its incredible sound quality, but also the small, sleek design compared to other streaming amplifiers on the market at that time.
Since then, HBH’s most enthusiastic audiophiles have been on a few training trips with Cyrus, learning all about their products. Assistant Manager Dan and Senior Sales Advisor Jamie – both from our Wadebridge branch – are even certified Cyrus Product Specialists!
Cyrus have also attended all of our Cornwall Hi-Fi Shows since the very first show in 2018, each year delivering an incredible stand showcasing their current product range. The knowledgeable Cyrus team have always been on-hand at the show to demonstrate the full range of features and high-quality that Cyrus is known for. Of course, we’ll be welcoming Cyrus back to the 2023 Cornwall Hi-Fi Show, so be sure to come along to the show to hear their new products for yourself!
