A Brief History of Bissell
In 1876, Melville and Anna Bissell owned a crockery shop where dust and breakages were a daily occurrence so Melville developed a carpet sweeping machine to keep the store neat and tidy. It was so effective that word spread, demand rose, and soon BISSELL® was selling far more carpet sweepers then cups and saucers – over 1,000 a day. When Melville Bissell died in 1889, his wife Anna stepped in to lead the business becoming the first female CEO in the US. She passionately defended the company’s patents and successfully marketed sweepers throughout North America and Europe. In the late 1890’s BISSELL® gained royal approval after supplying sweepers to Queen Victoria. Still family-owned, BISSELL® continues to operate with tradition, innovation and passion.

They’re a firm staff and customer favourite, thanks to their mix of convenient user technologies, well thought out accessories/addons and the signature Bissell quality we’ve all come to know and expect.
Our full Bissell range includes carpet washers, steam mops and multi-surface cleaners. As well as the floor cleaners themselves, we also carry a range of Bissell’s own cleaning solutions, which are the perfect way to get the most out of a Bissell floorcare appliance.
