A History of Bosch
Robert Bosch laid the groundwork for Bosch’s success story with the establishment of his precision engineering and electrical engineering workshop in Stuttgart. Driven by the belief that producing the very best at all times is non-negotiable, Bosch has stood for uncompromising quality, technical perfection, and absolute reliability for nearly 130 years. As the Bosch corporation expanded globally by 1929, the Great Depression prompted the exploration of new business areas, including affordable electric home appliances. In 1933, Bosch introduced its first home appliance, a 60-litre electric refrigerator, marking the beginning of Bosch’s legacy in household innovation.
Over the decades, Bosch has continued to revolutionize daily life with groundbreaking products such as kitchen machines, dishwashers, and the first combined washer-dryer in 1967.
The 1980s brought a new lifestyle, prompting Bosch to pioneer integrated appliances, and in 1989, they introduced 0° cooling technology, allowing households to keep their food fresher for longer. In the 1990s, Bosch led the charge for environmental responsibility, manufacturing CFC- and FC-free refrigerators.
Fast forward to 2015, Bosch Home Connect allows users to control appliances remotely. The 2010s saw the development of i-DOS, ensuring precise detergent and water usage for laundry. Today, as Europe’s leading home appliance brand, Bosch remains dedicated to peak performance, making everyday life easier with unwavering quality, technical excellence, and absolute reliability – yesterday, today and into the future.

For over three decades, HBH Woolacotts has been a proud supplier of Bosch home appliances, ranging from reliable washing machines, dishwashers, and fridge freezers since the early 1990s. As our relationship with Bosch strengthened, we expanded our inventory to include their top-notch ovens, hobs, and cooker hoods by the late ’90s. Renowned for their quality and performance, Bosch appliances have become favourites among both our customers and staff.
